TALK – BUILDING A CREATIVE FOUNDATION
Over the last decade the credit card has starred in most of the creation myths of our industry. The gods of credit came down and handed us tablets of plastic and lo and beholda film was born. Sure, hard work and years of sweat and swear words played a part too, but that mighty card made it possible to pull art out of thin air. And it was like magic — when you needed credit, it appeared. A lot of films got made, but so did a lot of debt. In fact most Americans are swimming in debt. ESTHER B. ROBINSON (film producer and founder of ArtHome) explains how to build a solid creative foundation so that you can not only sustain but thrive.

The WorkBook Project is pleased to announce a new Discovery and Distribution Award.
One Filmmaker will be awarded a week long theatrical run in LA with PR, Street Team and Social Media support. Filmmaker keeps 100% of the box office.

DIY DAYS - fund :: create :: distribute :: sustain
How do we sustain ourselves as storytellers in this day of shifting distribution systems? How do we monetize our work and get the word out? Presented by WorkBook Project - DIY DAYS aims to answer these questions with a day of panels, roundtable discussions and workshops: A look at how to fund, create, and distribute and sustain.
TARGET AUDIENCE Anyone wanting to make creative work - film, music, games, art. Self-identified Independent storytellers, Creatives and Tech-philes.
THE EVENT The day flows through a mix of both structured and free form activities to encourage open discussion and the opportunity to break into groups and get everyone talking to each other.
Proposed Discussion Topics - New Forms of Storytelling - New models of Finance, Production and Distribution - Audience Building & The Audience Becoming Collaborators - War Stories: “What’s The Real Deal?” - Self-Sustaining: what to know when trying to make a living from your art - Case Studies
